Who Can Cancel and When

First year students living in on-campus housing during the Fall 2020 semester, who cancel their housing agreement and move out, may also cancel or change their required meal plans, up until the September 15 cancellation deadline. You may cancel your plan outright, or change to commuter or block plan in the event you are simply moving off campus.

All other students, regardless of their housing status, during the Fall 2020 semester, may change or cancel their meal plans up until the September 15 deadline.

After the September 15 cancellation deadline, any students wishing to cancel their meal plans, should contact the Wolfpack One Card office for cancellation and refund options available to them.

What Is Being Refunded

Core Meal Plan Component

Refunds for current semester core meal plans including the Dining Hall Plan, Flex Plan, and Flex Plus Plan are calculated based on the number of days the plan was available and in use. This is calculated from the start of the first day the plan was used through the end of the day the cancellation was requested. This number of days, and the 112 days available for dining during the Fall 2020 semester, are used to determine the unused portion of the meal plan. This refund calculation applies to the core meal plan cost, excluding any Dining Dollar component, which is refunded as noted below.

Block Meal Plan Component

Refunds for all current semester Block meal plans including the Block 170 and Athletic plans are given based on the number of unused meals on those plans as a proportion of the total number of meals on the plan. As with the core meal plans, this refund calculation applies to the Block meal plan cost, excluding any Dining Dollar component, which is refunded as noted below.

Commuter Dollars Component

Refunds for current semester Commuter/Apartment plans are for the remaining balance of current semester Commuter Dollars. This refund does not apply to Commuter Dollars which were rolled over from prior semesters.

Dining Dollars Component

Refunds for the Dining Dollar component of any current semester meal plan are for the remaining balance of current semester Dining Dollars. This includes Dining Dollars which were included with a plan, or which were purchased after the start of the semester. Note that this does not include unused Dining Dollars which were rolled over from prior semesters.

Rollovers From Prior Semesters

Commuter Dollars and Dining Dollars purchased during your tenure at NC State roll over from semester to semester and are available for you to spend at any time. These dollars expire when you either withdraw from the university or graduate.

During the Fall 2020 semester, refunds of unused rollover Commuter and Dining Dollars will be given for students who are either withdrawing, graduating or fulfilling graduation requirements during the Fall 2020 semester.

For future semesters, if reduced operations at the university, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic, prevent you from using your Commuter or Dining Dollars, we will advise you on a semester by semester basis of your refund options.
