NC State Dining Adds Grubhub Ordering Kiosks

NC State Dining’s move to mobile ordering through Grubhub has created efficiency for the staff who can focus on filling orders in most of the on-campus restaurants and cafes. While students and most staff members have become used to the new way of ordering, many staff and visitors are not prepared or have current technology to place their orders in this way.

To that end, Dining has installed ordering kiosks in Talley Student Union next to Jason’s Deli and the Oval Food Hall. Here, patrons can order from any restaurant on campus that is on the Grubhub system. The kiosks can only take credit cards, however, not meal plans or payroll deduction as these accounts require a personal profile that cannot be created at the kiosk.

Depending on the time of day, wait times may be long, but with Grubhub, there is no need to stand in line.

“With a little planning, most people can get their food or beverage at a time that they are actually ready to eat,” said Jennifer Gilmore, director of marketing with Campus Enterprises.” But if you don’t want to wait, there are a few places where you can walk up and order or eat. These include the dining halls, Chick-fil-A (Atrium), Sushi with Gusto (Atrium and Talley), plus the Talley Market and Bragaw C-Store.

“As a matter of fact, if the Starbucks and PCJ lines in Talley are too long and all you want is a fresh-brewed coffee, you can get Carribou coffee in Talley Market without having to wait. I also hear they are debuting Howling Cow peach ice cream this week as well.”

Some locations are able to ring patrons at the register if staff is available, but staffing is currently limited. “We, like most restaurants across the country, are experiencing severe staffing shortages. We are working as fast as we can to fill positions, so we appreciate everyone’s patience. We are grateful for our staff who show up every day to ensure our campus is well-fed.”
