Precautionary Measures for Cyclospora Outbreak

NC State Dining is taking proactive safety precautions across all campus dining facilities to protect the health and well-being of the university community in response to the national Cyclospora outbreak.

While a recent recall only impacted a limited number of items used on campus, NC State Dining has taken the following precautionary steps:

  • Lettuce Sourcing Adjustment: All lettuce products from Taylor Farms have been paused as a precaution. Primary distributor US Foods has confirmed that sourcing from the affected farm and region has been ceased.
  • Temporary Pause on Fresh Berries: Campus dining halls have temporarily paused serving fresh berries. A variety of safe alternatives, including melons, canned fruit and fresh juices, remain available.

NC State Dining relies on rigorous supplier safety protocols. US Foods conducts periodic audits of suppliers’ manufacturing facilities, and all U.S. food manufacturing facilities adhere to mandatory USDA inspection requirements.

NC State Dining will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available.
